Mithuro Cafe is a really good rice and curry spot down Duplication Road. They also serve a whole bunch of short eats, and kottu in the evenings, and there's usually this lady running the whole show.
Rice & Curry
The rice and curry here is totally worth it. We got the chicken packet and it comes with plenty of papadam, parippu, manioc, gotukola sambol and dry chillies. The chicken curry and parippu were especially good and we walloped the whole thing to our own surprise.
We also got the fried rice (Rs. 200) but it's not as good. There's enough rice in this for three people but the rice is peppery and lacks seasoning, and there's not enough chicken to make you want to finish this.
It's not often I'm nuts about kade short-eats but I absolutely loved the 'chicken-pieces' rotti here. It's for just Rs. 40 and of a decent size, stuffed with (as promised) plenty of all the chunky chicken pieces (normal pieces, liver, gizzard, all included). It's quite peppery and spicy, so if you can take your pepper you'll love this. These guys also have pol rotti and the works which are probably worth trying out.
We're always super happy to find small places that do good rice and curry for cheap, and Mithuro is one of them. We're on the look out for more bath kades, like for example Bath Kade
, so if you think there's a good spot we haven't talked about let us know in the comments.
