NutriBox is a healthy, affordable, lunch delivery system.

Sri Lanka is seemingly hopping on to the health train with a noticeable increase in healthy food options in the past few years. NutriBox is a home/office delivery service that caters to those trying to eat clean or just don't want to make lunch.

The Ordering Process

It could not be simpler. You just have to call them a day before, or before 7 AM on the day you want your food. You have a variety of dishes to choose from and the protein options are chicken and fish. They also have a separate menu for vegetarian dishes. You can choose from a regular meal, a low-calorie meal or a power meal. All prices are below Rs. 400 and they come with a side of fresh fruit and a cup of juice or smoothie. Their full menu is available here.

It's all delivered by the lady who runs the business herself, neatly packed and stacked. We do think the packaging uses way too much plastic, but we don't know what the alternative would be.

The Food

We ordered a Crockpot Chicken Chili and a Stir-fried Chicken Meal. They were both surprisingly pretty good for healthy meals, they were a bit under-seasoned but clean eating requires low sodium so we can't complain. The Crockpot Chicken Chilli, Rs. 310 for a regular, came with a lime juice, small portion of fruit, strips of roti and a fresh garden salad. The portion of chicken was quite small, but with the salad, roti and fruits the meal was quite filling. The juice that accompanied it was just a lime juice without sugar which was miserable, but thankfully the office is stocked with sugar, which made the drink much better. We know that adding sugar defeats the purpose of healthy meals, but this was unpalatable otherwise.

The Stir-fried Chicken, Rs. 370 for a power meal, came with a garden salad, a mix of vegetables, fruits, rice noodles, and a fruit smoothie. Once again, there was only a little chicken but the whole meal was satisfying. The noodles were weirdly not bland, which we did not expect because it looked very plain. As far as health meals go, this was good. The smoothie was much better than the lime juice. It was very milky and tasted of mangoes, which was pleasant enough.

Conclusion

If you're looking for cheap, hassle free way to eat clean, we highly recommend this. Their portion sizes aren't the biggest but it's well worth the prices because you get other components too.
