Ramani’s is a nice place and a good salon. It won't give you for money, but they're reliable and probably won’t ruin your hair. The staff – at the Nugegoda branch at least – are lovely. They haven’t changed in years, they remember all their clients and they’re just really, really sweet and friendly.
With plenty of locations around the island, Ramani's is Colombo's most established salon chain.

Thanks to Ramanis i spent a whole year wearing a hoodie. I had just got back from Malaysia and went for a hair straightening. The iron was so damn hot, my hair burnt all the way down to the scalp. I busted around 18000 bucks and trust me 5 years ago that was heck loads of money…it still is :p so anyways they ruined my hair and i was forced to go to so many hair specialists who ripped another heck loads of money from me again….my hair is finally growing back now. thats cos i take heck loads of iron tablets and stick to a strict mallum diet. god save us all.

For me the Ramani salon experience was a horrible one! I had my graduation at cinnamon grand and decided to go there to get dressed for my convenience. The appoinment was at 4,they dressed me like 35 minutes later.the dresser was so inexperienced that she kept pinning and unpinning my saree 3-4 times!! and I was late for my photo session.Minutes later my saree falls off from both the shoulder draping and the navel.I went back to get it done. The same girl was struggling 2 times for someone senior to come help, which took ages and ended up being a horrid job.I had to pin the saree again and hide under the claok all evening due to the mess they made! Not an apology.just a dirty look from everyone there.Bottom line: DONOT go to the cinnamon grand salon of you don't want this done to you!

I went to this branch for a haircut. Usually, when I get my haircut in the US, I know the stylist will mess up my hair because they try to thin it out and mimic white women's hairstyles. I was hoping that getting my hair cut in Colombo would yield different results. Although the service was nice and the friendly stylist tried to follow the pictures I brought, I left with 8 inches of my hair on the floor and it noticeably thinner.
Luckily I won't have to endure another haircut in the time I'm here (silver lining?), but it's clear that Colombo lacks in a GOOD woman's hair stylist.

I went to the Cinnamon Grand branch for make-up and hair-styling as I was a bridesmaid for a friend's wedding. It was not a good experience. Wrong colour foundation which made me look embalmed, loads of garish green eyeshadow mixed in with tons of eyeliner which was reminiscent of the worst 80s look you can imagine and bucket loads of hair spray which made my hair glossy and plastic looking with no movement whatsoever! Plus they have the gall to act as if you're inconveniencing them if you make the slightest demand. Never again! Plus I've heard a lot of negative reviews concerning hair fall and hair loss once you go for one of their treatments or even styling. Even though I have to agree that Colombo is in need of a good stylist who understands hair, this place is the most overrated of the lot.

I have been a customer of RF salons for about 5 years now and always had mixed emotions about the salon. I went there first as I was new to Colombo and couldn't find a good salon around Borella, Although they are quite expensive i always went as there was this guy callled Dinendra who was a great hair stylist and Marina who makes threading absolutely painless. But recently I stopped going there as my usual stylist is not there anymore and my last hair cut was done by a rather arrogant guy who didn't speak more than 10 words to me and let a trainee do the half of the styling. I was angry as after spending 3000 rupees u don't expect a trainee to do ur hair. So i never went there again. although i used the service for years for their professionalism i believe there are lot of areas to be improved, the staff in Borella are not warm and friendly, they are rather hostile no smiles, once i had to get my eyebrows done by a lady called Kanthi who was actually rude. Overall I think Ramani Fernando salon does not give u service worth for ur money.

I was actually impressed by the service, offered me coffee as well and the nugegoda branch staff are very humble

I visited Ramani Salons on Elibank Road as we had some vouchers. It was for a special occassion. As we went as a group we had booked 4 appointments. The lady who did my hair, was extremely rude and I seemed to be inconveniencing her actually being there which made me furious! She did my hair style and 10 minutes later when i went to check on my sister it had fallen out. When I went looking for the person who did my hair I was told she had gone home. My sisters luck she had Dilhara who was lovely and not only did my sisters hair but redid my hairstyle too!!
Never going there again even if I do have vouchers!!!!

I too have some vouchers and I'm hoping to visit the Salon at Elibank Road. I would surely insist on Dilhara…. Any suggestions about the Salon at Taj Samudra??? Are they any good???

Went to RF salon at Hilton branch for a full dressing. Very unprofessional and untrained doesn't think about clients money and time. I waited about 30min them to get started, then the person who did my makeup turned me into a yellow colour alien. Kept on telling them what sort of hair and makeup I want but they just did what they want. Went to my function 2 1/2 hrs late. Very disappointed. Don't ever go there if you want a very natural and a modern look.

I recently went to the kiribathgoda branch for a hair cut and the stylist Shanka did an amazing job. Went back there a few days later for a oil head massage which was also nice and relaxing. The staff is friendly and helpful. I usually go to Tony and guy abroad. Ramani salon kiribathgoda was more or less up that standard which was alesant surprice. Would definitely go back there again when I'm in Lanka.

You should visit their branch at Taj Samudra Hotel.they take real good care of you. The manager Samantha is extremely talented and will cut your hair in a style that truly works well for u.plus their staff is very courteous and hostpitable. If you are looking for a total new makeover or just want your hair styled for a function step in to this branch .

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! I had a French manicure at the Hilton branch. It cost a ridiculous 1800 rupees and looked so awful that I took it off just hours later because it would have been too embarrassing to go to a wedding with that. Had to ask the lady to correct a number of things when it came to the colour application but she still did not provide a decent result and took much longer than they said it would which made me late. She seemed to lack basic training/experience. AVOID.

Dear Ms. Fernando,
I'm writing to complain about your the appalling level of care your staff have towards your clients at Elibank Road
I came in today for an eyebrow reshaping and asked specifically for someone experienced as I had to attend an important function.
I was told that I would be given the manager of the branch. Nevertheless, the girl who promised the manager shrewdly led me to an inexperienced member of staff.
She failed to apologise or provide any excuse and merely smiled and beckoned me to sit.
This act of deception is contrary to the level of service expected by such an elite salon. I've been a regular customer but now, I've vowed never to return.
I was offered no recompense for this; at the end of the session, Rs. 300 was demanded of me and I paid and left. Ideally, if this had happened elsewhere in the world, the service would have been free if such an act of deceit had been performed.
If you value your customer service, you would consider retraining your staff in being more considerate. I must also mention that your manager at Elibank road lacks any sort of understanding and merely struts around, ordering everyone about. Please consider replacing her.
Thank you.

If you're searching for something similar to RF in terms of services and pricing, I can recommend Salon Kess, for haircuts and styling especially. They have some very experienced stylists on the team. Yamu should do one of those comparative reviews of the major salons in Colombo.

Always a terrible experience at the salon at Cinnamon. I used to live at the crescent residencies at the time so kept going their out of pure convenience. Once I went there to get a hair cut and they didn't have any running water :S they took me in anyways and started washing my haircut of a bucket of water which ran out half way through. They made no apologies or efforts to get more water to finish washing my hair they asked me to go back to my apartment and wash my hair and come back to finish the cut!
I was back in the country 2 years ago attending a wedding at cinnamon and wanted to get my hair and make up and dressing done there for convenience sake. The guy who did my hair and the girl who dressed me were really sweet and well trained but there is a dark girl there who did my make up who always looks like she has something stinky under her nose at all times, she was so incredible rude and acted as if I was inconveniencing her by being.
Not to mention the hairstylist who made me feel extreamly uncomfortable my hitting on and kept asking me out -- extreamly unprofessional
I will avoid the cinnamon location like the plague from now on but from the looks of these reviews it seems none of the other locations are any better

Ramani salon borella not happy at all.stylist viranthi did a really bad makeup for my brothrs wedding.very dissapointing after soending 4000 rs

I went for the eli bank branch salon for a perm and it ended up as a disaster. A person call Arjuna did my hair and the end result was no curls just a really damaged hair. Now my hair looks very thin and dry. The stylist are very inexperienced that they cant even decide what suits for the clients hair. It cost me around 18,000 and ultimately it was just a waste of money. I really don't recommend RF salon to anyone now, there quality of service has just gone down.
SK
I've had both good and bad experiences. I must say, they do a great job with eyebrows. RF salons have FEW hairstylists who actually manage to give you an 'out of this world hairstyle'! I had the worst ever experience with a trainee at the Cinnamon Grand branch a few years ago. No only was she overconfident and super obnoxious, she totally ruined my hair and was too darn arrogant to admit it! I had to repeat myself several times and even then she just didn't seem to understand what I actually wanted! I had to practically force her to stop and demanded that one of the senior guys finish off the job - not that it did much difference; she had already messed it up royally and what's worse, it was for my engagement!!! So, yes, definitely not worth the money you pay!

Staff at Mount Lavinia branch need a lesson in time management. I made an appointment for two services and was at the salon 5 minutes early. I was told there would be a delay of 10 minutes as they were busy but ended up waiting for 45 minutes. I was finally taken in after I complained. The second service was rushed and I did not get value for the money I paid. The attitude of staff need to improve. I have always valued the service of this salon and it has always been a cut above the rest. Hope the quality will remain.

Can you guys please review the Ramani Fernando Salon in Bernards, Kohuwala ?
Asheni
Ramani Fernando salon mount Lavinia do have inexperienced staff, I have visited them twice, once for a hair cut and the next for a clean up. The person who did my haircut did it as shes doing it for the first time and my hair ended up very shot with too much of layers. The management should really look in to how to improve their quality of service
Asheni
Yamu staff please do review some of the good salons in Colombo with a comparison. That will help most of the users to pick a good salon according to their requirement.
