Depression help

I’ve been having clinical depression for over 2 years now and I’m done with taking medicine for it because I feel emotionless while on medication. I’m not financially capable of paying for a therapist as I’m still a student and I don’t want my parents to find out. Is there any place that offers help and therapy in colombo?

If you're having clinical depression it is essential that you take the medicine as the symptoms are a result of neurotransmitter imbalance in the brain that can only be rectified through medications. As per the side effects you feel there are multiple options. What is important is that you tell your doctor what you're feeling and request for alternate medicines. Stand alone therapy is only useful in mild depression.

Don't carry the burden alone. It's good if you can tell someone you trust. Also don't think of your depresssion as something to be embarrassed about. It's something your body does on its own. You can't control it. If possible do tell your parents or ask someone you trust to break it to them
