Get down something from Amazon US

Hi guys, I want to purchase something (a kitchen appliance) off Amazon US. Whats the most reliable and cheapest way to get it down to Sri Lanka?

Best way to get anything from the US is using a shipping forwarding company. I use Shipito.com, but there are lots of different ones. They provide you with a US address to send the delivery, and then give you a wide range of shipping options to get it to Sri Lanka - it's fast and efficient. The express options aren't cheap, but very reliable.

I don't know why Yamu consistently recommends Kapruka - they get bad reviews constantly, slow, poor customer service and I've never had a good experience with them.

I guess I wouldn't recommend Kapruka, but they're the only thing set up to specifically do this. Though I didn't know about Shipito. I've used Trico for the UK, but it's a bit complicated. For stuff like appliances they usually won't ship her via Amazon.

Worth giving Shipito or any of the other US forwarding companies a try - you also get the option of stating what value you want declared for customs, and original invoicing removed… Which helps save on the custom duties in a big way.

Some products actually can be shipped directly by Amazon. Select the option that shows shipping to Sri Lanka when you searching for stuff. They charge the taxes at checkout so they can be pretty pricey. What do you want to purchase exactly?

Thank you for the suggestions folks. Directly from Amazon is not an option, the shipping and tax come up to about 200% of the product price. And a shipping and forwarding company also seems not feasible due to price. I am giving Kapruka a try.

Anyway, I have used Kapruka many times before without any issues, so not sure what the fuss is about. In this scenario I wanted to try another option as Kapruka had a 2 month wait because I had to use Sea shipping. But seems like 2 months it is…

You’d be one of the few exceptions without Kapruka issues (or you really have no idea how cheap things can be) lol

Kitchen appliance - if it’s on the heavier side, you’d probably have to ask someone who’s coming down to get it for you because most shipping options aren’t going to be worth the price.

I've ordered it via Kapruka, lets see how this goes :D
