I was doing some googling and everybody seems to say that they need a lot of hay (not straw). Where can I find timothy or alfalfa hay in SL? If it's not possible, what do people usually give their rabbits? Leafy greens seems to be the way to go, but I'm concerned about this whole 'hay' scene :D

So my Aunt has a few rabbits and all they eat is lettuce, gotukola, kung kung, carrots and other leafy stuff, I've seen the fellows eat cucumber too. They don't eat hay and bless their heart they are all nice and plump and very active ( touch wood) so this hay thing might not be necessary. best consult a vet just to be on the safe side.
Malinthe
Thanks mate. That was really helpful. Will call a vet and double check also.

I used to own a few rabbits and I fed them with something called 'pellets'. Essentially rabbit food with everything they need to live healthy. I rarely fed them with veges except the grass they loved to devour from the garden. You can find the pellets at any pet store in Sri Lanka

Hey so i had rabbits a while ago. Mine were australian albino rabbits. They would only eat cabbage, lettuce, gotukola and almost every other keera or leafy greens. I tried everything else. Funnily they disliked carrots. Feed them fruits as a treat but not too much as they grow overweight easily.

Update: if you're looking for hay, you can get them from K-9. They have both alfalfa and timothy.
Indika
Hi whats k9 in fact? I also need timothy hay. Any clue?
Malinthe
It's a pet supply store on Nawala Road. They have Timothy hay. I get them regularly for my rabbit.

Hi,
Apparently K9 is running out of Guinea pig foods. Do you know any other places sell Guinea pig Hay?
karan
Hey. Can I feed Guinea Grass to my rabbit? Is it safe and worth it? As i don't have Timothy or alfalfa hay growing in my country. Also the hay in pet store are really expensive. Please reply me to babikaran70@live.com. Thank you.

My bunnies are just one moth old and I usually feed them pallets… Also Kankun, gotukola kind of stuff… I don't find rabit food in supermarkets unlike other countries… When you feed green vegetables brought from sellers… Be extra cautious as they apply tons of insecticides and pesticides on green Veggies… As no governing body to control poisson on food… Such as MRL(maximum residual level)
