I'm looking for a class for adults to learn spoken and written Sinhala for English speakers.
I've looked into the British council and they say they do not offer classes for Sinhala. Any other places I can learn from?
Any online resources that are good?
Preferably, something on the weekends or after work hours.

Thanks! I checked out their website, but the only course they had was for Tamil - I want to get to this too, but will start with Sinhala.

imho, the best way to learn Sinhala (or any language) is to talk with natives. Just find a friend and start to talk with him/ her in Sinhala.

I do that :D. I was looking for a course so that I could speed up the learning process. I also think a structured course could help me learn it easier.

Thanks! I checked that out, but some of the places (like the BMICH) require groups to start a class. I also tried the British Council, but they've stopped their program :(

I didn't realize he did independent classes now! Thanks Indi! I'll contact him and see how it goes! :D.

Apparently the Department of Official Languages conducts classes for Sinhala (and many other languages as well)! Contact them and see for more details: https://www.languagesdept.gov.lk/web/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=15&Itemid=146&lang=en
