Why doesn't any place in this city actually sell a proper original chocolate eclair?

By original chocolate eclair, I mean a soft but crispy on the edges long bun, a chocolate stripe on the top and a FRESH CREAM filling (white) inside. Why is one of the most popular and common pastries worldwide so difficult to find in this city?

I know that a lot of places sell "Chocolate eclairs" but every single one of them messes with the original formula. Sure you get the long bun, the chocolate stripe on top but the centre is ALWAYS filled with chocolate cream, instead of vanilla white cream. Honestly with chocolate on the top and in the centre, it's just too much chocolate. With the original Chocolate eclair, having the chocolate on top and the fresh cream inside helps balance and counter each other making for a delicious treat. And if they aren't messing with the formula inside, on the top they decide to add sprinkles, stripes or patterns of some other random flavours/decorations on top. No, I don't want any swirly lines on the top thank you very much. Leave the decoration for birthday cakes, sunshine! So is there a place that actually sells proper chocolate eclairs without the chocolate overdose?

I know every place from Klassy to BreadTalk to Coffee Stop and numerous other places all sell Chocolate eclairs, but they all have the WRONG filling inside making them fake wannabe imposter eclairs. Once I was lucky enough to get one at the Cinnamon Lakeside's Afternoon Tea although it was so small I couldn't figure out if it was a fat profiterole or a chocolate eclair on a diet! I was also fortunate enough to enjoy a proper chocolate eclair at Hotel Riu in Ahungalla one evening as part of the dessert selection. These two however are just random luck. Come on Colombo, we are facing a grave issue. Nobody in this city sells a proper chocolate eclair. I propose we go on a mass strike at Galle Face green in 2 weeks to gain attention from the owners of the establishments currently making fake wannabe chocolate eclairs. We can find everything in this city except an original chocolate eclair. #MakeColomboGreatAgain

Tell us how it goes! I'm also on the lookout for the perfect eclair. I've tried Dolce's one a while back but didn't really like it.

I totally agree with you!!! Proper eclairs shouldn't be filled with chocolate buttercream!
You should try Oshella's home made goodness. She's a home caterer and you can find her on fb. She fills her eclairs with, not chocolate, but a proper creme patissiere with real vanilla bean. Top class!

If by any chance you find yourself in Kandy, try the eclairs at Candy Corner (near Trinity College) ;)

Try Corne Far bakers in Hill Street Dehiwela. Good stuff although all chocolate.

Actually, the original eclair does not call for a "fresh cream" filling as this question states. In fact, it's either crème pâtissière, chiboust, or whipped cream (which is not the same as fresh cream).
