Date Cake

  • Date cake is a delicious treat that leaves us salivating and turns up the greed-o-metre when it's baking in the oven. No drama, no fuss, no strings attached- date cake is the best way to cheer yourself up without facing any repercussions.

Aunty Raaliya shows us how to make an amazing date cake. Moist, fluffy and fall-apart soft, this is an excellent treat to impress your friends with, or even yourself!


  • g of Margarine
  • g of Sugar
  • Eggs
  • g of Flour
  • tsp of Baking powder
  • cup of Milk
  • tsp of Baking Powder
  • g of Dates
  • cup of Water
  • g of Cashews


  • 2 Bowls
  • 1 Beater
  • 1 Baking Tray


  • Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add in the eggs one by one, alternately beating after each egg.
  • Gradually add the flour and baking powder, until combined.
  • Add 1/2 a cup of milk to the flour mixture.
  • In another bowl, mix together the dates and the remaining baking powder until combined.
  • Mix the date mixture in with the batter. Add in the cashews.
  • Butter up your baking tray and lightly dust it with flour. Pour the batter.
  • Bake at 250 C for 20 minutes.
  • Serve.

Powder your sugar before you beat it in with the margarine. This makes it easier to blend it in and also leaves you with a lovely light and fluffy mixture which is perfect for cakes.
