Is this where the ghost busters chill out? cos it looks like it.
Except this isn’t in NYC, it’s at the bottom of Chatham street, in Fort. For an upcoming bit of Yamunism we are documenting the wonders of our city’s once fortified heart, trying to put pictures and names to the centre’s various faded but fantastic ancient buildings. We’ve been doing OK locating the once famed Apothecaries, Standard Bank, Lloyds, Baurs and General Post Office buildings. But we can’t name this one…..
It was once (circa 1970) the Sathosa building but I don’t think this gothic wonder was purpose built to be a socialist government’s grocery cooperative. What was this place in the time before nationalisation, does anyone have any idea?
