It is the holy month of Ramadan, celebrated by millions of Sri Lankan Muslims. During Ramadan, Muslims fast during daylight hours, partaking neither food nor water. Ramadan ends on a day called Eid ul-Fitr (17 August this year), which many Muslims celebrate by sharing food with all of their friends, regardless of faith.
To see how Sri Lankans celebrate Ramadan, YAMU tagged along with blogger Abdul Halik Azeez to break fast in Slave Island at a small mosque. The video above shows what we saw. It’s truly a beautiful experience and we wish everyone a thoughtful and blessed Ramadan.
