The last weekend of the year is here; how special are you going to treat it? Drop that episode of The Witcher you're watching and make the most of it by trying out the top places we had the pleasure of visiting this week.
Churros (The Kingsbury)
With a view of the Honey Beach Club, we believe we discovered the ideal spot to while away the time or grab a few exciting tidbits while catching up with your friend.
Churros Colombo (previously The Gourmet Station) serves an exciting range of pastries, cakes, macaroons, chocolate, ice-creams, smoothies and coffee and the fact that they're open from six in the morning to midnight makes it so much better.
Pho Vietnam
If your palate is looking for something other than your ordinary dose of food, Pho Vietnam might be the ideal place to check out. Being one of the authentic Vietnamese restaurants in Colombo, they cater towards providing your palate with nothing but the best, and the closest you can get to Vietnamese food.
The cosy ambience and friendly staff contribute towards the pleasant experience.
AOBA (One Galle Face)
AOBA, a Japanese bar at One Galle Face, isn't your ordinary Japanese resto. They've got all your Japanese favourites – from sushi, sashimi to yakitori and don, and having the opportunity to gobble them down with a glass of Japanese Whiskey/Sake makes the experience extra special.
Forty Seven Spice
Cosy, chic, elegant and serene; the ambience at Forty Seven Spice is an amalgamation of all these elements. Their food is equally heartwarming and pleasant. Forty Seven Spice's speciality lies in the fact that they incorporate local ingredients with international technique, and their execution is top-notch.
Where else will you be able to get ambul thiyal-ed barramundi (Asian sea bass) fillet sitting on top of a stack of turmeric-infused string hoppers encircled with pol sambol and served with a side of kiri hodi (coconut milk gravy)? They also serve a refreshing range of mocktails that you do not want to miss out on.
The Grove
The Grove is an assortment of restaurants accompanied by a massive outdoor dining area and a co-working space, and perfectly fills the void that existed in Nugegoda for such a place.
Michaelangelo, Sath Ambula, Java Lounge, Mango Tree and Jack Tree are the five active restaurants they have at the moment and paired with the good food and the spacious outdoor and indoor seating areas, The Grove is turning out to be one of the most ideal places to hang out and while your time away.
A Happy New Year from us at YAMU!
