It's not a bad thing, just curious, and of course I know that not everyone does this, but I've seen it so frequently (mostly younger men) that I've been pushed to ask this question. This is very much…
Hi guys! Being a history geek, I'd love to know, what was Sri Lankan food like before the arrival of modern ingredients that would be considered sacred to the cuisine, such as chilies that originally came from South America? Thanks!
Hi guys, I've been told that there aren't really any forensic psychologists in Sri Lanka, but I was wondering if there were some institutions dedicated to these studies in the country (other than CIRP) that someone could possibly direct me to. Thank you!
Hi guys! I found a Sri Lankan market near me in California, and I really want to buy some coffee. According to their website, the only Sri Lankan brands they offer are Harischandra and Island Coffee, which I know are probably not as good as for instance, Hansa, but I was wondering, what does each brand taste like? Which one is better? Are either worth purchasing? Thanks for your help! (:
Hey guys! (: I know that this subject may seem a bit random in a forum like this one, but I'd love to get answers from native Sri Lankans. I was wondering if you guys knew any myths or folk tales (from more ancient eras, preferably), other than your usual Mahasona or Sinhabahu legends. If so, I'd love to learn some of them! (: Thank you for your time!
Hey guys! (: I was wondering, does such a thing exist in Sri Lanka? I mean, I'm sure it does.... //Sorry I'm not much of a foodie, I'm just going by Webster's definition of "haute" *cries* // Anyways, what are some restaurants that are worth visiting, say on a vacation or so? (A restaurant maybe somewhat like this one in San Francisco - http://1601sf.com/) Thank you very much for all the help! (: *virtual hug*
Hey guys! (: I'm trying to write a little article/post on how to make Classic Sri Lankan Chicken Curry better, so I was wondering, what do you guys do to make your curry taste better? Any passed down traditions? Revelations? I'd appreciate any insight! (: Thank you for your time.
Hi guys! This question doesn't have much to do with food, but I was curious to see if anyone knew much about the film production process in Sri Lanka. Here are my main questions, but I'd appreciate any insight on the subject: 1. Are the majority of films produced by TV stations/channels, or are there production companies in Sri Lanka? If so, what are the most popular ones? 2. Who are some notable television drama screenwriters and directors? (or are most dramas completely written by tv station staff?) 3. Continuing with the previous question, where do most TV channels or production companies get their scripts? For instance, in the U.S. most screenwriters pitch their scripts to studios such as Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox, etc, and a lucky few are chosen and their writing is put into production. What is this "script/story scouting" process like in Sri Lanka? 4. Is there an audition process for actors; how do they scout members for the cast? 5. How much is the average film production budget? 6. What is your general opinion of Sri Lankan cinema? Once again, I'd appreciate any help. (: Thank you for your time.
Hi guys, I recently got a package from Sri Lanka containing several chocolates. I forget the exact name of the first set (I believe it was Daintee), but the second one was an Edna Checkmate box. I was curious about the taste of these chocolates, as in comparison to American chocolate, it was much sweeter and it didn't really have that dark cocoa taste. As well, the texture wasn't as milky. By the way, these aren't complaints - the chocolates tasted fine in their own aspects. (: But I was simply wondering, is this the case for these brands or do most Sri Lankan chocolates taste less "dark/chocolatey" than American/European ones ones (that I'm assuming are available in Sri Lanka - Hershey's, Ferrero Rocher, etc) ? Thank you for your time, Sintar
Can anyone possibly direct me to a reliable and willing Sri Lankan/Sinhalese historian or professor that majors in the subject to help me out with my research (just to answer questions mainly)? I'm open to any one who's simply well-versed with Sri Lankan/Sinhalese history as well (i.e. archaeologists, students, etc) Most experts I've tried to contact don't reply ... :'( Thank you for your time, Sintar P.S. Please help me. I'm desperate
Is there any place that I may be able to buy fur or hide of any animals really...? Feathers would be okay too, but I'd prefer fur or hide. Thank you... I understand that this is a weird question to ask. (: Thanks, Sintar
Is there any company in Sri Lanka that ships beads (not the plastic ones, but the more traditional, natural ones) overseas?
