How To Make Chili Paste (UYAMU)

Chili paste is a beloved side to Sri Lankan meals, especially with Lankan-Chinese food. Here's Raliya aunty's recipe.

Ingredients

  • Dried shrimps - 25g
  • Chili flakes - 50g
  • Soy Sauce - 1 tbsp
  • Sugar - 1 tbsp
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Garlic - 2 cloves

Method

  1. Heat oil in a pan
  2. Add dried shrimps
  3. Grate garlic over it
  4. Toss till golden brown
  5. Add chili flakes
  6. Add salt
  7. Add sugar
  8. Add soy sauce
  9. Cook to a thick paste
