LeeSH.

Leesh is a convenient little sandwich bar/mini mart in nugegoda.

Exploring the streets of Nugegoda in search of good food, we stumbled upon a charming little sandwich bar, Leesh. Bizarrely, it happened to be right opposite one of our new favourite bath kades – Bo Sevana. The quaint little restaurant is well air conditioned, very clean and run by what is probably the sweetest couple you’ll ever meet. They live just above the store with their kids, who you’ll probably be able to hear playing in the next room.

The best part about Leesh is that it’s not just a sandwich bar, but also a mini mart. They stock all household essentials from noodles, eggs and milk to items like detergents and shampoo. They’ve even got Wifi – it’s all very convenient.

Back to the food, we had the Chicken Mini Sub (Rs. 250), the Teriyaki Burger (Rs. 220) and a Chicken Mayo Sandwich on Brown Bread (Rs. 210). They prepare the food right in front of you on a grill behind the counter – this is probably why the meat tastes so healthy and fresh.

As we waited for the food (which took about 10 minutes), we decided to try their sweet Lassi. It was really sweet, an incredibly refreshing blend of curd and honey. I couldn’t finish mine because it was a bit too sweet but Indi enjoyed his.

The Chicken Mini Sub was really good; there was a perfect balance of sauces and garlic. They were also quite generous with the chicken.
The Teriyaki Burger – great! It had a very light taste of mayo and teriyaki, the crisp piece of chicken between the buns was firm and juicy.
The Chicken Mayo Sandwich was decent. Being a bit cautious about my health, I had this hoping it would be a light, healthy but still tasteful lunch. It actually turned out to be exactly that; the chicken and the salad carefully poised with a hint of mayo, lettuce and tomatoes. I was happy it tasted that good for something termed ‘healthy.’

To sum up – they have Wifi, Brown Bread (for you healthy folk), Brownies, Cream Soda Floats, Iced Coffee and a pretty tasty Sweet Lassi. Leesh is really popular with the working crowd, most of them coming in between 5 and 7 (after work) to grab a bite and do their grocery shopping on the way home.

All in all, a thumbs up from YAMU.
