8 Reasons Why You Should Eat More Pumpkin.

Unless you've been living under a rock of some sort, you'd probably already know that Sri Lanka's been going through a bit of a pumpkin crisis. Meaning, we have lots and lots of pumpkin for very cheap.

Here's a list of reasons why you should probably eat more pumpkin.

1. Weight Loss

That's right. Pumpkin helps with losing weight. Pumpkin happens to be one of those vegetables that keep you feeling full for ages after your meal. The fact that pumpkins are almost 90% water (they belong to the same family of veggies as watermelon) helps in the process as well. Plus, pumpkin actually has very little calories compared to the bounds of nutrients it has in it.

2. Sharper Vision

That fascinating orange/yellow in pumpkins actually come because of an antioxidant called beta-carotene. This converts to Vitamin A inside your body and is essential for maintaining your eye health.

3. Heart Health

Pumpkin is packed with antioxidants and potassium which are mammoth contributors of maintaining heart health. Furthermore, research has come up proving that the oil from pumpkin seeds are also very good for preventing high blood pressure.

4. Better Immunity

Pumpkin is rich in nutrients like Vitamin A that helps with warding off illnesses like viruses and infectious diseases. Plus, pumpkin also happens to have 20% of the necessary amounts of Vitamin C that should be taken in daily. So, the next time you have a cold, maybe go with some pumpkin soup?

5. Digestion

Pumpkin is a fruit that is very high in fibres. This means that your bowel movements will be a lot easier to handle. Pumpkin has also proven to be a good source that helps with nutrient absorption and also reduces the chances of obesity.

6. Better Skin

We've said this before but we'll say it again. Pumpkin has an abundance of Vitamins including A, C and E, all of which help with reducing wrinkles caused by UV rays. Moreover, pumpkin paste can also be used as a naturally exfoliating facial mask.

7. It Lowers Your Risks of Cancer

The combination of Vitamin A, C, Iron and a whole bunch of others all add up to make a built-in armour that just might reduce your risks of certain types of Cancer.

8. Improves Muscle Functions

The hefty amounts of Potassium found in pumpkin combined with amino acids in the pumpkin seeds all help with improving your muscle functions.

Well, there you have it – 8 reasons why you should try Pumpkins.
