Lobby Lounge (Mövenpick Hotel Colombo)
The Lobby Lounge is Mövenpick Hotel's very own coffee stop/cafe, and it resides in their lobby. From generously stuffed paninis to spongy chocolate cakes, and more importantly, Mövenpick's very own Swiss ice cream, it was an instant hit among us. Which is why we're encouraging you to check it out this weekend.
Peri Peri Kukula
It's been a couple of years since Peri Peri Kukula walked into town, and from what we observed, they're still doing quite well. Paired with some excellent peri peri sauce, they do some mean flame-grilled chicken. And when they mean "extra hot sauce", it is, in fact, extra hot. You'll be oohing and aahing the whole time you eat it. Those of you who do not prefer meat, worry not – they've got a bunch of veg options.
Diego's Peri Peri
We discovered some of the smokiest chicken we've had, during our visit to Diego's Peri Peri. It's the newest place in Colombo to satisfy your flame-grilled, peri peri chicken cravings. While their sauces taste good, they are not exactly hot, in comparison to what you get in Peri Peri Kukula. If chicken is not your thang, make sure to have a bite of their Pulled Beef Burger – it's brilliant.
Café La Défense (Bambalapitiya)
Café La Défense recently opened their new branch, with a bigger, better space in Bambalapitiya. Their sandwiches and shakes are great, coffee isn't all bad, and in comparison to most cafes in town, they're pretty affordable.

Chopsticks Restaurant (Pepiliyana)
Chopsticks is known for their Chinese fare with a Lankan twist. If you live around Pepiliyana area, check out their new outlet – both dine-in and takeaway is available.
