Where To Eat This Weekend (1st of November, 2019).

November begins with a Friday and aren't we super excited for it. Here's a list of six new places that you should check out with your loved ones this weekend.

Miss Tasty Cafe & Restaurant

Kick-off this weekend in a healthy way with the goodies whipped up by Miss Tasty. They do some good smoothie bowls, fruit salads, and parfaits, for pocket-friendly prices. Our favourite was the Creamy Fruit Salad – a bowl full of chopped up green apple, mango, papaya swimming in a milk-yoghurt mix decorated with dates, cornflakes, cashews and also a grape on top.

Mango Tree at GSH

When it comes to North Indian fare in Colombo, The Mango Tree is one of the first places that pops into our mind, and now they've got two branches. We recently checked out the newly opened spot in GSH Colombo building and our experience was quite satisfactory.

Pictured above is the Samosa Chole, and it's probably one of the best dishes we've had throughout the year. Two potato samosas cut into halves, and smothered in a blend of curried chickpeas, chopped up onions, sev and drizzled with dahi and hari (mint coriander) chutney, it was the perfect marriage between sweet and spicy. They do some good Butter Paneer Masala, which you can enjoy with a couple of freshly baked naans.

Ovinmee Family Restaurant

What we loved most about Ovinmee is their Hot Butter Cuttlefish. Their take on Chinese food has a very Lankan touch to it, and was quite affordable too. If you live around Ratmalana and looking for a place to dine with your family, this is a solid option.

Fluff

Fluff is a home baker, and they're all about making the fluffiest marshmallows in Colombo. Plus, it's not the ordinary sugary marshmallows they make. They add delicious twists to them, and we quite enjoyed the passion fruit and Nutella flavoured ones we got.

Bunnova Bakes

Here's another place to get your sweet tooth satisfied, especially if you're into cinnamon rolls. Bunnova Bakes is another home baker that you should check out this weekend, simply because of the fluffy cinnamon rolls she makes. Soaked in cream cheese, each of these cinnamon rolls is priced at Rs. 395.

Chinese Hot Pot

Colombo has a sheer number of Chinese restaurants, but it's not every day that you come across a one with hot pots. The aptly name Chinese Hot Pot is a restaurant in Kollupitiya that does hot pots, and hot pots only. It's one of the few options in Colombo for Mala hot pot too. They're hella pricy, so you might want to check your wallet before going in.
