Clock Inn Colombo.

Don't pick a fight, just download Pikanite (app intended).

This time we decided to check out a popular budget hostel in Colombo.

Taking a walk down Galle Road and as soon as you pass Alfred House Avenue, this hostel has your attention with its logo held high and chalkboard stating its offers and comfort, which is difficult to resist.

Accommodation

With four 4-bed dorms and six 4-bed dorms, 8-private rooms (double bed) and four bigger rooms that accommodate 4 people, so far this is the biggest budget hostel I have heard of in Colombo. However, since I was on solo mode, I checked into a bed in one of the 4-bed dorms. Sheet got real, cause I couldn't find one on my bed. The staff threw in the towel after I requested one. (These puns weren't fabricated, I promise).

As a Pikanite customer, I only paid Rs 916.00 (standard rate- Rs 1,176/ Pikanite rate – Rs 1,016.00) since I was offered an additional discount of Rs 200 which was earned from my previous bookings.

Dining & Drinks

The hostel offers tea bags and instant (Nescafe) coffee packs due to the non-availability of Coffee beans (disappointment much) for the authentic caffeine experience.

However, you are allowed to order food via Uber Eats and or PickMe Food. Alternative options are to just step outside and buy a buth packet or a burger from the nearest cafe/restaurant and enjoy it alone or with some company at the dining area outside.

Breakfast

From fried/ scrambled eggs to cereals and instant noodles, Clock Inn Colombo's has a good breakfast spread. However, I opted for a few slices of bread, scrambled eggs and fried sausages. Everything was well executed – "Me sa satis fies sa!"

Feeling Lazy?

Then we highly recommended the lounge area at the reception. I set up my laptop to finish work and the next thing I know is to have zzzz (yes, it's a comfort zone). Grab a cushion, a book or two or just browse through the TV to catch up on the CWC. If you are an amateur or professional guitarist, show them what you've got. I promise, there are no strings attached.

Overall

With a colourful interior, chilled vibes and a comfy lounge, plus very helpful staff who ensure your stay (be it one night or one month) is a memorable experience, Colombo has a gem of a budget option for those who need comfort, good breakfast, and a good night's sleep (give that relationship and or job [please don't tell my boss] break, after all, we are human).

Time does surely fly at the Clock Inn!

If interested in checking into Clock Inn and or another hostel in Colombo, down south and or the east, download Pikanite by clicking HERE. Please note, they only accept all debit and credit card payments and you can only book for tonight and or tomorrow tonight (no advance booking available).
