Biriyani is quintessential comfort food for many of us. A warm potful of biriyani packed with spices, aromatics, meats and flavour can certainly brighten up anyone's day, really.

It has been nearly a month since we went into self-isolation mode, and the ongoing curfews have made sure that we're doing it right, while keeping ourselves safe from COVID-19. Therefore, it's only natural to miss this comfort food, especially when it's tricky to make it at home as finding ingredients isn't that easy these days.

Thankfully, the lucky ducks in Colombo have a solution. There's a whole bunch of Indian restaurants in town that deliver biriyani amid these curfew hours, so you can chase away your curfew blues in the most delicious way.

Chola Authentic Indian Restaurant

Easily one of the best picks in Colombo for biriyani, we were quite glad to find out that Chola is delivering amid curfew. Their Chicken Tikka Biriyani is loaded with flavour and has a wave of spiciness to boot too. Plus, no minimum order value is required. Yay!

Pot Biriyani

If you're looking for a biriyani feast as a family, Pot Biriyani is your best bet. Even their small pot can serve 4 – 6 people, while the big one is for 8 – 10. Their collection of biriyani is quite impressive too, as they cover all the bases from chicken and mutton to beef and prawn, along with the option of going with string hopper biriyani and samba biriyani.

Galle Caterers

This is another option you can go for, especially if you have around 4 – 6 people in your family. Galle Caterer's take on biriyani is no way authentic, but considering the massive serving, it's worth it. Each portion comes with malasa-ed up rice, a fried, full chicken, green peas & cashew curry, Malay pickle, Maldive fish sambol, pineapple slices and a bowl of Watalappan. You get all of these for Rs. 3000, which is pretty sweet.
