At the moment, they've got a few snacks, all-day breakfast items and also coffee in the beverages section.
Unfortunately, on the day we visited they were limited to just snacks, of which we opted for New Yorki Wings (Rs. 350 for 6 pcs) and a Meatball Sub (Rs. 190).
It comes with two sauces which you'd find in the picture above, on the side of our Meatball Sub. One of them was sweet and had chilli flakes swimming about, while the other was on the tangy side, along with mustardy kicks.
For just Rs. 190, the Meatball Sub didn't disappoint. Sandwiched between a bun that's soft and airy, there were plenty of cutup meatballs, onions, and chunks of kochchi along with a drizzle of spicy mayonnaise. Cafe 6-8 does some good coffee, made with Riverston coffee brand. They're quite affordable too - ranging from Rs. 250 to Rs. 350.
Our Latte tasted more like a Cappuccino, but a good one at that. Featuring a beautiful crown of airy microfoam, it was strong, not bitter and the milk was spot on.
The Lime Soda was essentially a soda with a few slices of lime slipped in.
It's one of the smallest cafes you'll see in Colombo, yet quite pretty. They've got three wooden tables aligned with comfy plastic chairs, while the rest of the space is occupied with flower pots. The walls are all black and decorated with rabans. Altogether, it has a very nice, earthy vibe to it.
The lady behind the counter knows the menu well and was quick on her feet.
Cafe 6-8 fills the void of one highly anticipated need in Nugegoda - a spot to grab good coffee. We hope that they'd add more varieties to the menu in the near future.
