Quickee.lk has gained a lot of popularity over the past year and they now deliver from a bunch of new places. We hadn't ordered from them in a while, so we decided to test them on a rainy evening.
The Delivery
Quickee.lk is a delivery service that delivers products from a number of different restaurants and shops in and around Colombo. It's a unique service since you can pick up stuff from a bunch of different places at the same time. They started off with a few places but now they deliver from more than twenty restaurants and shops. They promise delivery within 35-45 minutes, but times can vary depending on the time of day, weather and number of places ordered from.
So to test them we decided to order stuff from a couple places, some hot and cold food and see how efficient the delivery is, what the state of the products are on delivery and of course the time taken. We ordered a biriyani from spice coast, a milkshake and milo toast (which is brilliant btw) from Avirate Cafe. We placed the order pretty early at 5.30 pm for the order to be delivered somewhere between 7.30 – 8.00 PM since Spice Coast begins the dinner service at 7.00 PM.
The delivery finally came in at 8.25 PM which is later than we expected, but while I was plenty hungry by that time, I wasn't really mad since it was raining pretty hard during that time interval. The food was delivered in one piece without any sort of spillage, albeit the biryani was not very warm by that point.
All in all I was okay with the entire transaction, but there is room for improvement. The delay would have been more understandable had I ordered late, but since I did give them plenty of time they should have planned for any rain delays.
Service & Charges
The service was one thing I was very impressed with. Their hotline is very efficient and they were polite and helpful when I was deciding what to order. They've got a few restaurants that aren't currently shown on their website so when I asked them about prices and portions, they contacted the restaurant and called me back with all the information. Two thumbs up on that front. The charges for delivery are pretty straight forward, it's Rs. 100 within Colombo and Rs. 200 to the suburbs, which is a really good deal if you think about it since they pick up from multiple restaurants for no additional cost.
Conclusion
Quickee.lk may get delayed with their deliveries under certain circumstances, but they offer a service that no one else does, so we're glad that they're around. On these gloomy, rainy days, when you're just too lazy to step out of the house you really do appreciate it.
