Suki's Wok is a little Chinese restaurant down Havelock Road. They used to be somewhere on/near Kynsey Road, but apparently the government shut them down for being an 'unauthorised building'. Happily, they managed to open up again not too soon after the incident.
Suki's Wok's been cropping up on our Facebook feed lately, so we decided to give them a call and try out their set lunch menu. The menu for this is fairly simple. You can choose from prawn, beef, chicken, fish, etc. and it comes with veg chopsuey, fried rice and chilli paste. We ordered the fish (Rs. 300) chicken (Rs. 290), beef (Rs. 290). The total bill came to Rs. 970 for three people with delivery to Dehiwala costing Rs. 90.
We were really quite impressed with these guys. Calling and placing the order was easy - the person on the phone was polite and helpful and our food arrived within less than 30 minutes of ordering - the delivery guy didn't even have to call to ask for directions. No fuss, no hassle, nothing.
And it was really good. Nice savoury fried rice, and you could actually differentiate between the two meats and fish - they hadn't all been chucked and whirled up in the same sauce. The beef in particular was excellent - the cuts were thick, and the portion was relatively generous. You still get the standard abundance of rice, but I think a lot of people like that and would complain if it wasn't so.
Suki's Wok is a really friendly, nice place. We've been experiencing some poor customer service lately (see Roots
) so it was a real pleasure to have good food delivered to us so easily and without stress. This isn't gourmet chinese or anything fancy, it's just simple, good Sri Lankan-Chinese done well. We'd definitely recommend giving them a call if you want some lunch delivered to your office. They're great.
The Delivery takes around an hour (which they tell you) so order with time to spare.
