The Porky-Nator
In the mood for nothing else but pork this weekend? If so, we highly recommend Porky-Nator. This home cook is specialises in everything pork, and deliciously executed ones at that. They only sell in quantities of 1kg so this is not the place to order a casual lunch from, so make sure you have at least four people in your home if you're planning to order from them. We absolutely enjoyed every bit of Kochchi Pork and Honey Glazed Pork Ribs we ordered from them.
Hancook Kitchen
Residents of Malabe, rejoice! There's a new resto in your neighbourhood that whips up some superb Korean dishes for a very affordable price. Known as Hancook Kitchen, this one makes the best bibimbap we've had so far. Massive portions, delicious food and no hole in your wallet, what more do you want?
Brown Sugar
Finding a good doughnut in Colombo is harder than you think, which is why we are over the moon as we discover this home-based doughnut maker. These deep-fried, slightly crisped, fluffy goodies come with a bunch of interesting toppings/fillings, and we enjoyed all of them. Plus, they offer them as these beautiful bouquets.
Hotel Suvai
This one is for those of you who live around Battaramulla area. Hotel Suvai is a tiny restaurant with some absolutely great Indian fare. It's a saiwar, so everything is vegetarian, but trust me, you're not going to miss your meats here. From what we gathered, this stuff is cooked by an Indian chef, which explains the authenticity of their flavours.
Plus Nine Four
Plus Nine Four is a magical place. Why, you ask? Because no matter how crowded it tends to get, it's one of the places in the city that you can have an absolutely peaceful dining experience. Cloaking you from all the chatter and noise in the city, this place crafts up some good coffee, and food. Paired with their alfresco dining setup, and friendly service, it's everything you need to have some relaxing time this weekend.
Smokies BBQ
For the last year or so, there has been a big rise in Colombo's BBQ scene. A lot of BBQ dedicated spots have opened, and Smokies BBQ is one of them. They do a mean beef brisket, and some good chicken BBQ too. However, going all the way to Moratuwa to grab them might sound like a lot of work, but we feel like our trip was worth it.
That's it for this week, folks! Have a happy weekend!
