Skrumptious (Platinum One Suites)

1 Bagatalle Rd, Colombo 03

Skrumptious has a new branch at Platinum One Suites.

The humble Skrumptious, known for its scrumptious brownies since 2011, now has a new branch inside Platinum One Suites down Bagatalle Road.

Desserts & Drinks

Their menu features a selection of Classic Brownies, a few specials which aren't available as single portions, a range of "Fudgy Gooey Brownies," Puddings, and Shakes. The Classics are priced at Rs. 690 and as for Fudgy Gooey Brownies, it's Rs. 590 and upwards. The latter is available as 6-pc portions too, and the single servings are topped off with ice cream/ whipped cream.

This Cashew Brownie (Rs. 690) was chosen from the Classics. Topped off with three scoops of chocolate sauce-drizzled vanilla ice cream, it stayed true to its name - had a generous embedding of chopped up cashews, a lot of gooeyness, and was rich with chocolate flavour.

The Mocha Cream Cheese (Rs. 590) shared the same fudgy, chocolaty core along with a layer of cream cheese on top. There was a tinge of coffee in the mix, which they can certainly intensify, as it's hardly there, but we enjoyed catching a subtle sour kick from the cream cheese.
Soft, but slightly chewy, the Rocky Road (Rs. 590) was packed with crushed nuts, including almonds, which we loved. However, we do wish if they could warm up the brownies before serving. It would have made them oozier and moister.

The Tiramisu (Rs. 600) wasn't as impressive as the rest. Beyond that pretty dusting of coffee, it was slightly cakey and had a heap of mascarpone cream, which dragged the overall flavour to the sweet side of the spectrum.

Featured above is the Peanut Butter Chocolate Shake (Rs. 550). It's the perfect marriage between the promised elements - peanut butter and chocolate. The peanut butter was the dominating, which craves for your attention, but it doesn't necessarily overpower the chocolatiness.

Service & Ambience

Skrumptious occupies the previous Café at One, with new furniture, and friendly service. It's small but still can fit about ten customers at a time.

Conclusion

We're glad to see one of our favourite dessert bars in the city is branching out. The price tags look expensive, but given that they're sharable, it won't affect badly on your wallet.
