7 Food Bloggers You Should Follow.

The food scene in Colombo has never been shy of options. However, now it is busier than ever with limitless options that often leave you wondering, “So many places, what do I get? Ahhh!”, we’ve all been there.

Don’t worry though, this is where our food bloggers expertise saves us all!

You've certainly come across the term "food blogger" before, unlike these foodies who have been blessed with the patience of God’s to resist eating all their food in 0.5 seconds of receiving it! Their superhuman talents include capturing aesthetic pictures for the ‘gram and writing up reviews every single time.

So, to shine some light on their dedication, here are some food bloggers that you should follow:

@rasaimachang

Dhara Gunawardene, a sarcastic, dog-loving graphic designer, runs Rasaimachang. Her friends constantly kept asking her for restaurant recommendations because she used to eat out frequently, she decided that launching an Instagram profile would be a good idea. Soon after, she founded rasaimachang with the goal of helping out local restaurants get exposure and helping people find places to have both, good food and a good time.

@the_urbane_grub

Coming from a family that celebrates almost every occasion and takes their food very seriously, Aaliya Mohomed decided to express her passion for food through her blog, the Urabane Grub. She has been doing this since 2017 and even has her own website, www.theurbanegrub,com/.  She had an addiction to taking pictures of everything she ate and drank and combined with her love for writing, Urbane Grub is indefinitely her favourite leisure. Aaliya is very confident that the Urbane Grub reviews have never disappointed and I must say, I agree.

@food_in__squares

The person or persons behind this food blog choose to remain anonymous and keep the sole spotlight on their food reviews. Food in squares was started in 2019 after the blogger decided to start posting all their food-related content on a new account dedicated to food rather than their private accounts. The only information that we have about the person behind this food blog is that, they truly love food!

@_food__diaries_

Food Diaries came to life when two sisters, Hiru and Tharu Jayampthi wanted to showcase their love for food. So, they opened an Instagram page on the 10th of July 2017 and have not looked back since. It has now become a family affair, with their brother Nipun Jayampthi now stepping in to capture almost all of their content.

@yohani_hewage

The biggest inspiration for Yohani to start her food blog 5 years ago was the Queen of Sri Lankan food blogs, Queen Bae (Zainab Faizal) and her favourite Rosanna Paniso. Her blog started out as a hobby when her close friend tried to coax her out of her shell to express her thoughts and opinions, she also liked the satisfaction she got when she took pictures of the food because she paid great attention to detail. So, this combination led her to start her own blog. What started out as a casual food blog has helped Yohani reach great places!

@review_galore_2020

Narmadha, a lecturer at a Colombo-based private institute for young adults and working professionals in the travel industry, opened her account on March 15, 2020. She encountered foreigners in her gym one day and they asked for her food recommendations and what the locals did around here. Since then, they've formed a connection and have gone out to try new food experiences together. She did observe, though, that her friends were treated differently than her. So, she started her food blog to convey nothing but the truth when reviewing places.

@raha.deen

20-year-old Raha, a digital marketer and student who runs her own halal food blog, has one of the most aesthetic feeds. Raha was inspired to start her own blog by her older sister, who is also a food blogger. She had always been interested in photography and decided to start blogging, which she has done for the past three years. Her blog was the antidote to her boredom. Her feed has a certain preset that she uses on all her posts, it is so satisfying!
